Sixteen-year-old Quinn Hardwick’s having a rough summer. Her beloved grandmother has been put into a home, her dad’s gambling addiction has flared back up and now her worst enemy is back in town: Wesley James, former childhood friend—until he ruined her life, that is.

So when Wesley is hired to work with her at Tudor Tymes, a medieval England themed restaurant, the last thing Quinn’s going to do is forgive and forget. She’s determined to remove him from her life and even the score all at once—by getting him fired.

But getting rid of Wesley isn’t as easy as she’d hoped. When Quinn finds herself falling for him, she has to decide what she wants more: to get even, or to just get over it.

My Review

What stood out most for me was Jennifer's ability to really capture the voice of a teen. Like, so much so, that the stubborn selfishness of it, started to grate on my nerves after a while, and desperately thinking, Please tell me I wasn't like that as a teenager? So, yeah. The writing is done in such a way that you become completely immersed in the character, and I found it difficult to put the book down because it was so engaging.

Rightio, lets talk about Wesley. *sighs* He is such a damn sweetheart! His seemingly endless patience with Quinn, his thoughtful nature, and generally all around happy attitude. But I think that my favourite thing about him is how he calls Quinn, Q. I don't even know why I love it so much - I just do.

Quinn is such an interesting POV to read from. The most envious quality I believe she has is her passion. I really wish I could be the kind of person that could be excited about anything as much as Quinn is about London. Like, how much better would life be if you just lived and breathed your passion? And then, to make me like her even more, she gave up her dream to help out her dad. I mean, sure, I wanted to strangle her for it, but her heart was in the right place, and in end, isn't that all that really matters?

The one thing I really didn't like about Wesley James Ruined My Life, was how Quinn used Caleb to push her feelings for Wesley aside, then, to just generally make him jealous. So not cool. I am a firm believer that there is never a good enough reason to play with someone's feelings - generally everyone involved comes out the other side feeling like shiz. Honesty is always the best policy.

Wesley James Ruined My Life is the perfect mix of teen dramatisation (I mean, just look at that title!), the effects real world problems bleeding into teen life, and learning how to navigate while dealing with raging hormones.
